Subject: Teaching a dog to ride a skateboard. Help!Pat Robards. Gary Wilkes.Hello,
I am writing because I am at a loss at how to proceed with this trick.
I wish to teach a dog to ride the skateboard. This will consist of several different behaviors:
First, to mount the skateboard with two or three paws and push off with the third/fourth. The second to stand and then sit on the skateboard while it is moving. The third to tip the rear 'wing' so that the front of the skatboard flips up.
So far, I am at the point where the dog is able to mount the blocked skateboard eagerly. The dog can stand comfortably with four paws on the blocked skateboard. And he will sit on the skateboard while it is moved back and forth about an inch.
What should I do next? Which trick should I start with first? Would a front or rear entry matter for some of this tricks?Suggestions!
